Garlic dough balls
Serves 2
Garlic dough balls. Dough balls that you dip into a deliciously creamy garlic butter dip. Ok, we know where the inspiration for this recipe yields but it is genuinely the best you’ll get outside of said restaurant. Plus they’re fresh, oh and you made them!
The simplicity of this recipe will knock you out and once you have discovered how simple they are to make they’ll become a firm favourite on your evening meal repertoire, even on busy school nights when a quick pasta dish needs an accompaniment.
All it takes is one GBOF dough balls and pot of our garlic butter. In under 5 minutes you’ll be cooking them in the oven!
Add all your toppings.
Ingredients
- 1 Great Balls of Flour sourdough pizza ball
- 1 – 2 tbs of GBOF Garlic butter
Method
Ensure you have prepared your Great Balls of Flour pizza dough ball so it is rested and has got up to temperature. This will make it really easy to press and stretch your dough ball into the pizza base.
Fire up your pizza oven, or home oven to it’s maximum setting (250ºC), waiting until your stone or steel has had sufficient time to get to temperature. Remove your Great Balls of Flour Pizza Tomato Sauce from your fridge and allow to warm for 45 minutes before building your pizza.
Sprinkle your work surface with flour and semolina mix and roll your dough ball lightly covering it all over to ensure it doesn’t stick to the surface. Spread and stretch like in this video
Springkle your pizza peel or parchment paper with flour and semolina mix. Transfer to your pizza peel, or parchment paper if cooking in a home oven. Remember to shuffle the pizza base a couple of times throughout the building process to ensure your base doesn’t stick to the peel/parchment paper.
Cooking guide
Divide the dough ball into 10 equal pieces of 25g each and roll into a ball. Let rest for 30 minutes, covering in a clean tea towel. Transfer carefully to your oven.
Cook in a home oven for 6 – 8 minutes until golden brown. Cook in pizza ovens until golden brown, usually around 2- 2/12 minutes so as to allow the centre to be fully cooked.
Transfer from the oven and leave to cool. Prepare you garlic butter by scooping about 1 – 2tbs of garlic butter into a small dish or ramekin. Serve. Watch out for sneaky small hands when letting them cool… they have a tendency to pinch the balls!
