Scary Face Halloween Pizza
The problem with pumpkins is that you never get to eat them and whilst we aren’t suggesting you hang this pizza in your window it does make a fantastic showpiece on Halloween.
The first of our two Halloween recipes is the easier of the two to replicate.
Just arrange the ingredients to create a face and once it is cooked the ingredients to create the features of the face and pop it in the oven to bake.
Try this with our Italian Calabrian Antipasto
- 1 Great Balls of Flour sourdough pizza ball.
- Flour and semolina mix.
- 65g Great Balls of Flour Pizza Tomato Sauce.
- 1/4 orange pepper cut like fangs.
- 40g Juliette Fior di Latte cheese .
- 20g Fior di Latte ball, cut horizontally.
- 2 Black olives.
- 1 baby plum tomato, halved vertically.
- 6 slices of pepperoni or premium pepperoni.
- handful of fresh basil.
Ensure you have prepared your Great Balls of Flour pizza dough ball so it is rested and has got up to temperature. This will make it really easy to press and stretch your dough ball into the pizza base.
Fire up your pizza oven, or home oven to it’s maximum setting (250ºC), waiting until your stone or steel has had sufficient time to get to temperature. Remove your Great Balls of Flour Pizza Tomato Sauce from your fridge and allow to warm for 45 minutes before building your pizza.
Sprinkle your work surface with flour and semolina mix and roll your dough ball lightly covering it all over to ensure it doesn’t stick to the surface. Spread and stretch like in this video
Springkle your pizza peel or parchment paper with flour and semolina mix. Transfer to your pizza peel, or parchment paper if cooking in a home oven. Remember to shuffle the pizza base a couple of times throughout the building process to ensure your base doesn’t stick to the peel/parchment paper.
Spread your tomato sauce onto the pizza base then moving quickly add the peppers to create fangs, 3 pieces of pepperonis to create the effect of bloodshot eyeballs, with the mozzarella ball slices above this and finally the the olives for pupils. Add the Julienne Fior di Latte around the teeth for a goatee beard effect and above the eyes for eyebrows. Finally at this stage add the two slices of tomato to create a nose with the remaining olives, cut vertically to create nostrils. Cook as per the instructions of your pizza oven, adding the basil just before the end.
