Spiders and Ghosts Halloween Pizza uncooked

Spiders and Ghosts Halloween Pizza

Serves 2

Create a real scare-fest of a pizza with spiders and ghosts. There is genuinely something a little bizarre about taking a bite into a pizza that looks like it has spiders crawling over it!

A little bit more tricky that our other halloween pizza, but only down to the intricacies of chopping the olives and cheese to create the main characters. A Mozzarella di buffala ball works really well because you can carefully open it’s skin exterior and cut the shape of a pizza around it.

As the cheese melts during the baking it does create the effect that the ghost is hovering spookily above the tomato sauce!

Arrange the ingredients to create a spooky halloween scene and pop it in the oven to bake.

Ingredients

  • 1 Great Balls of Flour sourdough pizza ball.
  • Flour and semolina mix.
  • 65g Great Balls of Flour Pizza Tomato Sauce.
  • 10 black olives.
  • 1 Mozzarella di Buffala ball.

Method

Ensure you have prepared your Great Balls of Flour pizza dough ball so it is rested and has got up to temperature. This will make it really easy to press and stretch your dough ball into the pizza base.

Fire up your pizza oven, or home oven to it’s maximum setting (250ºC), waiting until your stone or steel has had sufficient time to get to temperature. Remove your Great Balls of Flour Pizza Tomato Sauce from your fridge and allow to warm for 45 minutes before building your pizza.

Sprinkle your work surface with flour and semolina mix and roll your dough ball lightly covering it all over to ensure it doesn’t stick to the surface. Spread and stretch like in this video

Springkle your pizza peel or parchment paper with flour and semolina mix. Transfer to your pizza peel, or parchment paper if cooking in a home oven.  Remember to shuffle the pizza base a couple of times throughout the building process to ensure your base doesn’t stick to the peel/parchment paper.

Cooking guide

Prepare your spiders by chopping 3 black olives vertically to create the body of the spiders, cut the remaining 6 black olives vertically and the horizontally to create the legs. Carefully cut the Mozzarella di Buffala ball open so you have the “skin” of the mozzarella and separate this from the softer cheese inside. Once separate cut around the cheese skin to create a ghostly shape. Now move onto building your pizza.

Spread your tomato sauce onto the pizza base then moving quickly add the olives to create spiders around the edge and arrange the ghost in the centre, add two small pieces of olive for eyes, finally add the leftover mozzarella next to the spiders to create a spooky foggy effect! Bake as per your ovens instructions.
